Love & Pain

I wrote this when I was watching one of Tyler Perry's play.

Love & Pain

I knew a woman, she was wonderful
she fell in love with a man, thought it was mutual
It turned out he had other girlfriends
she came crying to me because she didn't understand
Friendship can be love, and friendship can be pain
she needs someone who will shield her from the rain
There will be hard times when you will get so weak,
but you can make it, if you just believe.

I knew a young man, he was so special
he had his priorities straight and thought life was simple
His fiancee was pregnant and he couldn't wait to be a dad
He soon found out it was his best friends child and was stripped of all he had
Relationships can be love and relationships can be pain
he needs someone who will take him out the rain
Though there will be hard times when pain is all you think of
remember you can make it if you don't give up on love

I knew a couple, what they had was beautiful
they loved each other with their whole souls
But through the years they lost their hearts and let each other down
they thought they had a kingdom until they lost their crowns
Marriage can be love and marriage can be pain
they need someone who will stand with them through the rain
Now there will be hard times when you will grow apart
just remember you can make it, if you follow your heart.

Love

I haven't had a lot of luck with love in my life, so I don't write and haven't written many #poems about love. I felt that the inspiration always led to something dark and twisted, something depressing. But, being a writer, I decided to see if I could. My Lil' Story 'bout Love

I've loved and I've lost. My high school sweetheart who I loved and lost after not treating her right. I thought maybe one day I would be able to get that back. I stayed there for her when she needed me. I even did the unthinkable and talk to her when she lost her virginity. Though it was supposed to be me, I let it go and still loved her. I was even there for her as he mother was dying. I was there lending an ear and my experience and telling her the real. She needed to spend as much time with that woman as possible because she was never going to get to see her again. As we talked more and more she started telling me about the times when her so called new dude hit her. I told her I loved her, I apologized for my past. I told her and I meant I would do better. No, I never cheated but I was guilty of not showing her the love and affection she deserved. And it was because of that I felt she was where she was.
