When She Pushed Me Away

There has been so many times in my relationships when I felt like someone was holding something in. It was like they didn't want to tell me something or they were acting cold all of a sudden. I've never understood why though it's been explained to me. It's been explained as a cry for my attention because the attention I was giving was not enough.
I wrote this poem as part of a project I was doing called forty days and forty nights. It was a love story and it was one of the poems that the main character wrote in creative writing. I hope you enjoy...

When She Pushed Me Away

I should have saw it coming when she pushed me away
it all happened after Christmas day
She spread her legs and let someone else in
she caught a disease from another man
She lied to me with the greatest of ease
she told me nothing about it, just said she loved me
And love kept me stupid, it clouded my mind
Love kept me quiet and my heart blind
Now, my lover's gone, she died with my baby
she didn't protect herself, but if she did, just maybe
she'd still be here and maybe outlived me
but now I'm alone with this uncurable disease
Man, I can't believe I was stupid enough to stay
I should have saw it coming when she pushed me away...

Love

I haven't had a lot of luck with love in my life, so I don't write and haven't written many #poems about love. I felt that the inspiration always led to something dark and twisted, something depressing. But, being a writer, I decided to see if I could. My Lil' Story 'bout Love

I've loved and I've lost. My high school sweetheart who I loved and lost after not treating her right. I thought maybe one day I would be able to get that back. I stayed there for her when she needed me. I even did the unthinkable and talk to her when she lost her virginity. Though it was supposed to be me, I let it go and still loved her. I was even there for her as he mother was dying. I was there lending an ear and my experience and telling her the real. She needed to spend as much time with that woman as possible because she was never going to get to see her again. As we talked more and more she started telling me about the times when her so called new dude hit her. I told her I loved her, I apologized for my past. I told her and I meant I would do better. No, I never cheated but I was guilty of not showing her the love and affection she deserved. And it was because of that I felt she was where she was.
